Name: Placebo

Interests: When Placebo first broke onto the music scene in the mid 90s they were instantly surrounded by a sexually charged atmosphere. With songs such as Nancy Boy, an androgynous singer and infamous quotes about the band being 50% straight and 50% gay though comprised of 3 members, immediately they had the attention of the world. Though at times it may have been this image that drew fans in, they've stayed for the music and come to appreciate a band that can convey a range of emotions and sounds all through their alternative rock beats. -Sucker-Love.com
Expertise: See:: Placeboworld.co.uk/, sucker-love.com, and http://community.livejournal.com/placebowhores/ for further Placebo info

::SET FOR RELEASE JULY 17 2006::

Placebo have had a tumultuous ten years, celebrating victory and cradling defeat in both the charts and their personal lives. Their fans have stuck out the roller coaster ride since the beginning, and are now being rewarded with a ten year anniversary album! Confirmed on both Amazon and 101CD, the reissue will include the first album and all of its saucy glory and a DVD with only god knows what on it, further details are yet to be released...

That's right ladies and gentlemen, my life is SO inconsequential, and SO very little EVER happens to me, that I have decided to dedicate this Xanga to nothing but Placebo. I thought to myself, hey, I'll do a few friendly posts about the band, let people know where I'm coming from, and that would be that... but no, I figure that I never update this thing about MYSELF, so why not do something constructive?? So, if you don't like Placebo, I suggest you unsubscribe yourself from me post haste *giggles* either that, or learn to love 'em

::NEWS::

Placebo have been jumping around the globe on their highly successful tour (including festival dates), pleasing crowds from Germany to Thailand, receiving rave reviews and gracing the covers of dozens of magazines. Rocksound, Kerrang!, NME, Zero Magazine, Guitarist Magazine, Heat Magazine, Q Magazine, Daily Record, The Times, MOJO, Evening Standard and the Guardian (just to name a few!) have all sung their praise on Placebo's tour and new album, 'Meds'

::CHARTS::

In Placebo's first week sales of 'Meds', they jumped to #1 in Austria, France, Switzerland and Mexico! They placed in the top ten in Germany, Finland, Portugal, Australia, Argentina, United Kingdom, Belgium, and the Czech republic, and top 50 in Norway, Denmark, Ireland, New Zealand and Poland! As if that wasn't enough, Placebo finally snagged a place in the American Billboard charts hitting #180! Seems insignificant, but this is the first album that has ever even placed! This marks Placebo's most popular album release in the states to date.

::AWARD::

Placebo have already won the "2005 Best Concert Award" from Chiles biggest radio station 'Rock Pop'! Congratulations are in order I do believe!!!

::TELEVISION::

If you've got it in you to seek out the TONS of interviews, tracks, sets and shows Placebo have been doing on TV for the past few months, you will see they have been headlining some pretty heavy stuff. They performed their cover of Melody Nelson on the French "Canal + Tribute to Serge Gainsbourg" as well as their own special on "Canal +" reviewing their last 10 years as a band. Also, for some strange reason they were on a morning Soccer show in the UK, have done several sets for French TV, had a special Acoustic gig for Australian fans, were interviewed and played several live tracks for 4Music in the UK, played MTV's Fashionably Loud, and did an amazing live set for Steve Lamacq on Radio 1 as well as many many others. These videos are floating around YouTube and can also be found at the lovely home of PlaceboMedia.

::BABIES AND ENGAGEMENTS::

It had already been confirmed that lead singer/guitarist Brian Molko had become a beaming father to a young Cody Molko with girlfriend and photographer Helena Berg, but now, for charities sake, there is a photo of the kid and his... erhm, well eccentric father *laughter*

Meds (CD+DVD)

Well, I presume we have all taken our Meds? The album has been out for over a week here in the states, and I saw nothing to help it.

I'm sure the album will liiiiimp into the top 50 in America (if we're lucky), of course I'm only assuming, taking into consideration this luke-fucking-warm reaction they are getting in the USA. I heard "Follow The Cops Back Home" (strangely enough) on the radio the other day, but they never mentioned who it was by, they just played it threw and went on to the next track

I actually went to Virgin Mega Store, you know, PLACEBOS LABEL (well Astral Works, but that is a minor branch off) and there was nothing promoting them. No wall hangings, no stickers, no flyers, no posters, no nothing! I haven't heard a damn thing in any of the American magazines (only one tiiiiny article in RS, giving it a, shall we say, a rather distasteful review) or anything on TV!

this just goes to prove Americans have bad taste.

I expect each and every one of you to go out and buy Placebo's new album April 4th. Show of hands, who's going to, and who's not, so I know who to kill... You know, the more albums we buy, the more likely they are to waddle their ways over to America for a tour, which would make me ever so happy...

*sigh* arnt they lovely?

new single here for Placebo: Because I Want You

stop by wont you?
[man its been a  long time since I've done this]
[Because I want you]
Fall into you
Is all I seem to do
When I hit the bottle
Coz I'm afraid to be alone

Tear us in two
Is all it seems to do
As the anger fades
This house is no longer a home

Don't give up on the dream
Don't give up on the wanting
And everything that's true
Don't give up on the dream
Don't give up on the wanting
Because I want you to    x3
Because I want you    x2

Stumble into you
Is all I ever do
My memory's hazy
And I'm afraid to be alone

Tear us in two
Is all it's gonna do
As the headache fades
This house is no longer a home

Don't give up on the dream
Don't give up on the wanting
And everything that's true

Don't give up on the dream
Don't give up on the wanting
Because I want you to    x3
Because I want you    x2

Because I want you to   x2
Because I want you   x2

Fall into you
Is all I ever do
When I hit the bottle
Coz I'm afraid to be alone
Tear us in two    x3
Because I want you to   x2
Because I want you   x2
Because I want you to   x2
Because I want you   x2
